Transmodern is a platform to build and strengthen networks between researchers, institutes and cultural enterprises in Central and Eastern Europe whose field of activity is in connection with post-war architecture.

We are convinced that the architectural heritage of the post socialist block is simply one and unique in the term that it represents the post-war cultural, historical and economical circumstances of the countries in the region. This kind of connection between architecture, society and politics is valuable, but it is not completely discovered yet. Thanks to the small number of separated publications and researches in the topic only few people realised the hidden possibilities and ideas behind this contentious heritage. The broad audience have lack of possibility to meet the outcomes of these approaches, but the obvious relations and similar phenomena make clear that the understanding of the results and methods of the researches, the previous and present perception, the connection between media and architecture and the oral narratives could help everyone to recognize our similarities in cultural habits thanks to the common spatial and cultural experience after the Second World War.

The purpose of Translations of Modernism is to provide research and communication platform to anyone interested in the topic as a researcher, architect, enquirer and to generate new connections. According to this,Translations of Modernism is based on regional collaboration between partners with experiences in research and socialization on Central and Eastern European modern and contemporary architecture.

Translations of Modernism is mainly interested in the architecture of the post socialist and post soviet block, but thanks to the different narratives and local specialities of modern architecture in the region we are enthusiast about the architecture of other countries and regions all around in Europe as well.
